Wiscasset woman hurt in Route 1 crash
A Wiscasset woman was transferred by Lifeflight to Maine Medical Center in Portland Jan. 31 following a two-car crash in Edgecomb. Carol DiPrima, 60, of Wiscasset was “significantly hurt,” according to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Brendan Kane. Around 5:13 p.m., DiPrima was driving her 2012 Toyota Corolla on U.S. Route 1 when she tried turning left onto Cochran Road. According to Kane, her view was obstructed by another vehicle and she struck a southbound traveling 2014 Ford Fusion driven by Kelsey Hammond, 27, of Newcastle.
DiPrima’s passenger, John Rankin, 19, of Wiscasset, was not hurt. Nor were Hammond and her passenger Derek Cole, 29, of Newcastle. Their daughter, Harper Cole, 1, was taken to a hospital and treated and released, said Kane.
Both vehicles were “essentially totaled” and there are no charges pending, Kane reported.
