Veterans and families are invited to attend two events honoring Veterans Day, which this year falls on Sunday, Nov. 11.

Students and staff of Woolwich Central School on Nequasset Road will host a Veterans Day assembly Friday, Nov. 9 featuring student performances of military anthems.

The program begins at 9 a.m. in the auditorium. Students and guests are encouraged to dress in the colors of their favorite military branch: Army - black and gold; Navy - blue and gold; 
Marines - scarlet and gold; Air Force - ultramarine blue and golden yellow or Coast Guard - red, white and blue.

Schoolchildren hope to meet both active and retired men and women who have served in the military.

The community’s Special Events Committee will hold its annual event honoring veterans at 2 p.m. at the Nequasset Meetinghouse on Sunday, Nov. 11. Light refreshments will be provided. All military veterans and their families are invited to attend.
