The Chocolate Church Arts Center (CCAC) is hosting The World of Dance Workshop, July 22-24. This series is designed for students ages 9 to 13 on the basics of popular dance styles, the language of dance, and choreographing their own dance sequences.

Accomplished dance professionals Ashley Steeves and Eliza Tilbor will provide instruction in ballet, jazz, contemporary and hip hop. Classes, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., will be taught at a comfortable yet accelerated pace. Snacks are provided.

The World of Dance Workshop follows in the footsteps of CCAC’s popular Triple Threat Performance Arts Camp, which was held in April 2015 to coincide with schools’ spring break. Students were exposed to the “triple threat” of theatre arts, music and dance, experiencing the dedication and hard work involved in performance arts.

“I so enjoyed working with the kids at Triple Threat Camp,” Ashley said. “The week after, I was emailing the other teachers telling them, 'I wish we did this full time!’ I'm excited to run another camp series that fits well at the Chocolate Church.”

Executive Director Jennifer DeChant is hopeful the organization's offerings continue to expand.

“The enthusiasm for our workshops among students, teachers and parents encourages us to develop further opportunities, to introduce young people to creative experiences in the performing arts, on stage and behind the scenes,” DeChant said.
