YMCA dives into fall programming
Registration begins Monday, Aug. 26 for the seven-week YMCA fall program session beginning the week of September 9.
In response to Y member survey feedback, this fall we are offering additional evening and early morning classes for those who work during the day. Try the 5:30 a.m. Aqua Combo, 5 p.m. Tabata, Cardio Step, or Step to the Max, or the 6 p.m. Zumba classes.
In addition, developmental gymnastics is back and flag football too. An adult dance class and an adult sports evening has been added as well.
In partnership with the Boothbay community and local health professionals, the Y is excited to introduce a new program designed to support cancer survivors in their quest to regain their physical, emotional, and spiritual strength. “Livestrong” at the Y is a free 12-week program, providing a supportive environment that encourages a survivor’s journey back to a healthier well-being.
Participants will be guided through specialized group exercise classes and strength training programs, by Y staff members who have received specific training in cancer treatment and recovery. Our goal is that cancer survivors and their families will turn to the YMCA during and after treatment to heal their bodies, minds, and spirits in a safe, supportive, and respectful environment. “Livestrong” begins October 1 for 12 weeks on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Free of charge.
Last, be looking for a new TRX class coming later this fall to challenge those looking to get fit as well as for the fittest of our members.
