Youth art exhibit at Maine Art Gallery
The Maine Art Gallery Wiscasset will again provide a venue for promising artists from seven local schools with an exhibit running May 5-20. The gallery will be open weekends from noon to 4 p.m. until May 20. An opening reception will be held on May 5 from 2-4 p.m.
Schools participating in the Youth Art Exhibit include Great Salt Bay School, Juniper Hill School, Medomak Valley High School, Sheepscot Valley Children’s House, Wiscasset Christian Academy, Wiscasset Elementary School, and Wiscasset Middle High School.
The old Wiscasset Academy building at 15 Warren Street in Wiscasset is home to the Maine Art Gallery, whose mission is to foster creativity and cultural expression in Maine. As an old school house, it is also an appropriate setting for this display of student art.
On Saturday, May 12 at 3 p.m. illustrator and children’s book author Marcia Sewall will present a special talk on the process of creating a children’s picture book.
The Maine Art Gallery is a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement and preservation of painting, sculpture and graphic arts through exhibitions, lectures, demonstrations, and educational programs for children and adults. More information can be found at www.maineartgallerywiscasset.org and on Facebook at Maine Art Gallery Wiscasset. The gallery is located at 15 Warren Street, Wiscasset.
