Lincoln County Historical Association
Youth video contest announced
Deadline for submissions: June 15
Lincoln County Historical Association (LCHA) announces “It’s Our History," a contest for Lincoln County residents between the ages of 10-13 and 14-18 years of age. The youth are invited to explore LCHA’s three historic sites and create a five to ten minute video based on all three sites.
“It’s Our History” is a special opportunity to explore aspects of our county’s history using the medium of video to document the heritage and events that are part of the Chapman-Hall House, Pownalborough Court House, and the 1811 Old Jail.
Participants may work on their own or with a group. Each participant is limited to one entry. To register, simply log on to the Lincoln County Historical Association’s web site: www.lincolncountyhistory.org. Click on the link “Just for Kids” video contest and download the registration form. Complete the form and mail it in by June 15th.
The web site contest page will also detail the guidelines. Videos will be judged on creativity, adherence to the guidelines, historical accuracy, and video quality.
Two $100 prizes will be awarded: one for participants ages 10 -13, the other for ages 14- 18. Winners will be announced at the Lincoln County Historical Association’s Summer Social held in August 2018.
Founded in 1954 as a private, non-profit organization, the mission of the LCHA is to collect, preserve and interpret the history of Lincoln County, Maine. “It’s Our History” video contest is designed to promote interest in the heritage of Lincoln County as seen through the three historic sites under the care of LCHA: 1754 Chapman-Hall House in Damariscotta, 1761 Pownalborough Court House in Dresden and the 1811 Old Jail and Museum in Wiscasset.
Young people who live in Lincoln County are invited to rediscover some of the history that shaped the county they live in. Please feel free to contact LCHAS with any questions via email at info@lincolncountyhistory.org.
