The Penobscot Bay YMCA is looking for a grant writer 10 hours per week. There is opportunity for this position to be hybrid (in-person and remote).

Pay: $20-$22/hour

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Grant Writer supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Grant Writer will work closely with the CEO and Development Director to write and manage grant proposals and reports to secure funding that will ensure success of the Y’s mission-based programs. The Grant Writer will intentionally foster a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined while building understanding of the YMCA’s mission and impact. This is a part-time, hourly position (10 hours per week), with opportunity for growth.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Research prospective grant sources (public and private) compatible with the Y’s mission, values, and programs in support of the strategic and program goals and calendaring those prospects into the annual grant strategy.
2. Research and collect data and study findings to support grant proposals and reports.
3. Coordinate the development of grant requests by establishing timelines that outline tasks, assignments; meet all deadlines; facilitate timely communications with program leadership; collect grant submission materials from staff in programs, finance, and development.
4. Draft, edit and submit high quality, compelling Letters of Intent (LOI’s), grant proposals, grant reports, and acknowledgement letters, compiling budgets and other supporting materials as required by funders. Special attention should be made in checking for completeness, compliance, and accuracy against grant instructions.
5. In concert with the CEO, respond to inquiries from grantmakers strategically and in a timely manner.
6. Oversee and track all grant materials and milestones including, but not limited to; proposals in development, proposals submitted to funders, proposals that have been issued or canceled, grants awarded, deliverable deadlines, and communications.
7. Performs other duties necessary for the good of the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:
● Associates Degree or equivalent work experience;
● Exemplary written communication skills with proven ability to write and edit clear, structured, articulate and persuasive proposals;
● Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills;
● Unyielding attention to detail and organization;
● Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently with purpose, accuracy and deadlines in a fast paced environment.
● Proficiency with Microsoft and Google suite applications required.
● Have a history of honest and lawful conduct.
