Memoir readings at Skidompha
The Skidompha Chats with Champions Committee has invited writers who participated in the “From Memory to Memoir” workshops held in 2017 by Barbara Burt on April 19 at 10 a.m. in the library’s Porter Meeting Hall. Please allow time for parking.
The writers who will be reading at the Chats with Champions produced a collection of their efforts in a 125-page book, Stories that Connect Us.
All the stories and poems were written and/or worked on during the workshops. There will be at least ten accounts of love, childhood, work, aging, family ties, fun, sorrow, and joy--feelings and experiences we all may share as we travel along life's journey. The writers are not professional; in most cases, their stories and poems appearing in the book are their first published works.
The list of writers contributing to the book includes Dave McHold, Nancy Prisk, Bob Crink, Chris Chapman, Sharon Abair, Kitty Hartford, Pat McHold, Grizel Barreto, Gail Ruwe and Margaret Coolong. They all live in Midcoast Maine.
Barbara Burt, who leads the “From Memory to Memoir” workshops, is a long-time area resident and a member of the Transformative Language Arts Network. She weaves her background in writing, editing, education, communications, leadership, and music, and believes in the therapeutic value of personal narrative.
Chats with Champions is a free community offering from your national award-winning Skidompha Library and is sponsored by Sherman’s Maine Coast Book Shop. For more information call 563-5513.
