Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:
Deputy appointed as state DARE coordinator
Deputy Mark Bridgham has recently been appointed as the State of Maine Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) Coordinator. Deputy Bridgham has been a DARE instructor for nearly 22 years with the past nine years as the state secretary/treasurer for the organization.
The state of Maine currently has approximately 100 DARE instructors. Deputy Bridgham will work to bring additional resources and training for DARE Instructors as well as more DARE programs initiated.
Deputy Bridgham is currently assigned as the School Resource Officer at Lincoln Academy.
Recent arrest
On February 22, Dustin R. Bibber, 24, of Boothbay Harbor was arrested on an outstanding Lincoln County warrant on Ocean Point Road, Boothbay Harbor, by Deputy Kevin Dennison.
Recent traffic citations
On February 21, Julie Clukey, 24, of Wiscasset – Failure to show proof of insurance – Route 1, Newcastle – Dep. Chad Gilbert.
On February 22, Michael MacKusick, 53, of Boothbay – Speeding 73 MPH in a posted 55 MPH speed zone – Route 1, Nobleboro – Dep. Brian Collamore.
Recent traffic accidents
On February 24, an accident occurred on Boothbay Road in Edgecomb involving Michael Kozlowski, 28, of Harpswell. Kozlowski was operating his 1995 Mazda westbound on the snow covered roadway downgrade when he lost control of his vehicle, ran off the roadway on the right side and then proceeded across the median and knocked down a DOT “Do Not Enter” sign post. Reserve Deputy Mark Walsh was the investigating officer.
On February 24, an accident occurred on Route 27 in Edgecomb involving Eric Estabrook, 28, of Waterville. Estabrook was proceeding on an upgrade in the snowy and icy conditions in his 2002 GMC Sonoma when he lost control of his vehicle. As a result, his vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway and struck a CMP pole, causing only minor damage to the pole. Reserve Deputy Mark Walsh was the investigating officer.
On February 25, an accident occurred on Route 215 in Newcastle involving Justin M. Smith, 21, of Waldoboro. Smith was operating his 2005 Subaru Impreza southbound when he lost control of his vehicle and slid off the roadway into a ditch. Deputy Chad Gilbert was the investigating officer.
