Barbara S. Bush
Barbara Sue Bush died peacefully at the age of 95, Sept. 23, 2018 at Indian River Estates in Vero Beach, Florida. Barbara was born in Washington, D.C., the only child of Maxwell Blick and Florence Heppe Blick.
She graduated from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. She contributed to the WWII effort operating the Link Trainer, an early flight simulator for pilots in training.
She was married to Clinton G. Bush, Jr., and they raised a family in Long Island residing in Jericho and Centre Island, Oyster Bay.
Barbara worked in the women’s clothing industry and she owned and operated a boutique in Princeton, New Jersey. She retired to Vero Beach, Florida and Boothbay Harbor, Maine, and lived her final years at Indian River Estates in Vero Beach. She was an avid sailor, loved traveling, and contributed much to environmental causes.
She will be sorely missed by her family including her children, Cathie Bush Wardell, Clinton Gilman Bush, III, and Porter Douglas Bush, along with eight loving grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay, Maine.
