Oscar O. Noah
Oscar O. Noah passed away peacefully Feb. 2, 2019 at St. Andrews Village, Boothbay Harbor, Maine.
He was born on the family farm in Jahns Valley, Wisconsin on Nov. 28, 1930, the son of Oscar H. Noah and Irene (Haigh) Noah. The family moved from the farm and opened the County Farm Tavern. While attending high school he worked on local farms. After high school Oscar enlisted in the Navy serving until his discharge in 1953.
He met Marilyn at a dance at the town hall while stationed at Brunswick Naval Air Station and on Sept. 13, 1953 he and Marilyn were married at the Congregational Church in Newcastle, Maine. Oscar was employed by Bert Sherman as a plumber. Later he became a Master Plumber, owning and operating Oscar Noah Plumbing and Heating for more than 40 years, until retiring in 2002.
Oscar enjoyed retirement, his walks around town with his dog, visiting with former customers and people he met along the way. He was a dedicated husband and father, a hard worker, known for his dry sense of humor, sharp and quick wit, but always with a smile. He spent many Saturday mornings playing cribbage with Bert Sherman, Ed Harding and Ken Honey.
Oscar is survived by his wife, Marilyn Noah of Boothbay Harbor, Maine; son, Paul Noah and partner, Robyn Daley, and their children Aydan, Michael, Rosie and Elizabeth of Johnson, Vermont; brothers, Orlan Noah and wife Wanda of Buffalo City, Wisconsin and Dall Noah and wife Charlotte of Grovetown, Indiana.
He was predeceased by his parents, sister Velda Ruff, brother Norbert Noah, and dear friends, Lyle and Tress Nelson.
A celebration of Oscar’s life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 2 p.m. at the Boothbay Harbor Congregational Church, 125 Townsend Ave., Boothbay Harbor.
