Jonathan D. Roberts, 45, of Waban, Massachusetts pled not guilty at his formal arraignment in Wiscasset Feb. 11 to charges stemming from the Aug. 2 accident that claimed the life of Kristen McKellar in Damariscotta Lake.

A District VI grand jury indicted Roberts Jan. 8 on three charges: Manslaughter,  Reckless Operation of a Watercraft, and Operating a Watercraft at an Imprudent Speed. He was arrested on a warrant in Massachusetts and subsequently released on $1,500 secured bail.

McKellar, 32, of Camden, was swimming with a friend in the early evening when she was struck by the motorboat Roberts had allegedly been operating. Justice Daniel  Billings is hearing the case.
