Get rid of the winter weather blues by joining the Kennebec Estuary Land Trust (KELT) at the annual Winter Read on March 19 at 6:30 p.m. and meet award-winning Maine author Lisa Margonelli. The Winter Read is an annual community book discussion and this year's book is Margonelli’s most recent work, “Underbug: An Obsessive Tale of Termites and Technology.” It is much more than a book about termites! It is an exploration of biology, genetics, robotics, and human nature and ingenuity.

The evening discussion will be at the Mustard Seed Bookstore at 74 Front St.  in Bath. Be enticed to attend by delectable refreshments and delightful company. The discussion will be guided by longtime KELT volunteer Jen Van Deusen, who founded the Winter Read event in 2011. The group will discuss “Underbug” with ample question and answer time with the author.

Lisa Margonelli grew up in Dover-Foxcroft, moved away from Maine for 30 years, and now lives in Arrowsic, where she's a member of the Shellfish Conservation Committee. Her first book, “Oil On the Brain: Petroleum's Long, Strange Trip to Your Tank,” won a Northern California Book Award and was named one of the 25 Notable Books of 2007 by the American Library Association. “Underbug: An Obsessive Tale of Termites and Technology,” took about 10 years to write. It recently won a PROSE Award.
