Elizabeth B. Creamer
Mrs. Elizabeth Britton Creamer, 99, passed away peacefully with loving family by her side on Oct. 26, 2018 in Louisville, Kentucky.
Elizabeth was born in Chesterfield County, Virginia on Feb. 27, 1919 and relocated to Louisville with her family at a young age. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Western Kentucky Teachers College and Master of Education from the University of Louisville. She began her career as an elementary school teacher in Louisville. Following her marriage to Neal Creamer of Wiscasset, Maine in 1955, they settled in Edgecomb and she resumed teaching first grade students at Wiscasset Elementary School until her retirement.
Elizabeth was an active member of the Edgecomb Community Church, where she served for many years as organist and choir director. She was a strong and committed prayer warrior for her family and friends.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her parents, John W. and Ruth Holt Britton; her husband, Neal Creamer; sister, Ruth Britton Sprowls and husband Claude; brothers, J. Randolph Britton, W. Earl Britton and wife Frances, and Roland E. Britton and wife Irene; niece, Mrs. Peggy R. Britton; and nephews, Ronald R. Nicholas and Richard F. Ward Jr.
Elizabeth is survived by nieces, Robin Ruth Sprowls, Ann Britton Nicholas and Eloise Britton Ward; nephews, Paul D. Sprowls (Cindy), C. Scott Sprowls Jr. (Judy), John W. Britton (Kathryn) and Roland E. Britton Jr. Also surviving are 26 great nieces and great nephews.
Betty loved reading, music, knitting, and her beloved Maine coon cat, Molly. She created hundreds of sweaters, scarves, caps and mittens over the years for her family, friends and Maine Seacoast Mission. Known to her family as “Boom-Boom,” she was gracious and loving with a quick wit. She always maintained a positive attitude and was rarely without a smile.
A memorial service was held Nov. 28, 2018 at Highland United Methodist Church, Colonial Heights, Virginia. She was laid to rest next to her parents and brother Randolph in the family plot at Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg, Virginia.
