Gardiner Flood of Wiscasset, passed away on the morning of Aug. 13, 2019 at the MidCoast Hospital in Brunswick, after a long illness.  He was born on June 11, 1936, and lived his whole life in Wiscasset.

He worked with his father, “Mickey” Flood at Flood’s Hardware in Wiscasset. He later branched out to Flood’s Machine & Appliance, and later Flood’s Repair at Flood Avenue when he was displaced by the new Wiscasset bridge. He bought the Turner Center Creamery building in 1965 and had it raised for a display lot. He sold Gale outboards, and later Evinrude. In 1967 he was awarded the E Club Silver Sales Achievement Award, and employed many local people throughout the years. 

During his early years, he shot skeet, was active in the Wiscasset Fire Department, served as Harbor Master, and was a supporter of the Wiscasset Speedway. He also served as the last bridge tender of the old Wiscasset bridge.  

He was predeceased by an infant son; and an adult son, Morgan G. Flood.

He is survived by his wife; son, Rupert; daughter, Johnna; grandchildren, Dustin, Sammantha, Codie and Marguerita; two great-granddaughters; many friends and business associates; and his cat, “Paulie.”
