River Company one acts in rehearsal
Rehearsals continue for the River Company's production of a pair of one-act plays: “The Actor's Nightmare” and “The Proposal.”
Tamara Lilly is directing “The Actor’s Nightmare.” In this short piece by Christopher Durang, George (played by Stephen Wallace) wanders onstage and is told he must replace the lead, but not what play is being performed. He is also pretty sure that his name is not George and that he is not an actor, but does his best in a series of increasingly confusing, and hilarious exchanges. The cast includes Judy McQuillen as Ellen, Mitchell Wellman as Henry, Bridget Alexander as Meg, and Laura Morris as Sarah.
“The Proposal,” directed by Joe Lugosch, is Anton Checkhov's sardonic commentary on courtship and marriage. Sonya Sergeyevna (Zora Margolis) receives a visit from her neighbor Ivan (Draco Peaslee), and suspects that he wants to borrow something. That is the first misunderstanding; then her forceful daughter Natalia (Emily Sue Barker) becomes involved.
Both plays are being produced by Christine Andersen. Performances are at 7 p.m, on Oct. 18, 19, 25, 26 and at 3 p.m. Oct. 20 and 27. at Skidompha Library's Porter Hall in Damariscotta.
Ticket prices for members: $15, but $10 for seniors who are members; non-member tickets are $17, senior non-members pay 12. Student tickets are $5.
