Wiscasset board approves wine bar proposal
According to the streaming video of Wiscasset’s Dec. 23 planning board meeting at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ctDwjUQYHs, the board approved an application for a wine bar at 65 Main St. The board voted the application was complete and the board approved all the waivers. The planned operators, Chandler Sowden and Jack Goodwinc said they wish to open as soon as possible. They now must seek a building permit for changes to the property, and get all appropriate local and state licenses.
The board also considered Pamela Brackett’s request to erect three cottages and a garage at Chewonki Campground. She said the cottages would take the place of former campsites. She said the project is in its initial stages, because the proposed buildings had to be reviewed by the Federal Aviation Administration, a process that is still ongoing. The FAA required separate site plans for each structure, but Chair Karl Olson said the board would require a single site plan showing the location of all four buildings relative to one another and the boundaries of the property. Brackett said she would revise the site plan.
The board also required a new survey, but would accept a certified statement from the surveyor who produced the original site plan two years ago stating that no changes had occurred in the meantime. Brackett will have to notify all abutters within 250 feet of the property about the proposed changes, answer environmental questions on the application, and submit any waiver requests in writing.
The board meets next on Jan. 13.
