Elizabeth S. Keith
Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Suzanne Keith passed peacefully with her family by her side on Dec. 19, 2019. Elizabeth was a resident of Safe Havens at St. Andrews Village, Boothbay Harbor, Maine. She recently celebrated her 78th year with family, residents, and staff on October 24.
Betty was born in 1941 in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. She was the daughter of Philip Blake Keith and Edna Montenecourt Keith, and grew up in the towns of Cranford and Westfield, New Jersey. She graduated from Westfield High School in 1959 and attended Baldwin Wallace College in Ohio. She later earned her bachelor of science degree in art education from the University of New Hampshire.
Betty chose the Boothbay Harbor region as her home after spending many summers as a child at the family cabin in Sprucewold where she loved exploring the woodland trails and spending time on the water. She enjoyed teaching art in the region’s schools and many will remember Betty as their art teacher in the early ’70s. She loved nature, the outdoors, reading, Bible study, and being with family and good friends in the Boothbay area. She especially enjoyed keeping in touch with her many classmates from Westfield High. Her sense of humor was something that many fondly remember, and her pride and joy were her five grandchildren.
She is survived by daughter, Kerrin Cheever Erhard and husband Lincoln, daughter Aminda Rice LaBrecque and husband Kevin, and her five grandchildren: Blake Waters Erhard, Mason Beebe Erhard, Nicole Elizabeth LaBrecque, William Keith LaBrecque, and Jameson John LaBrecque.
Betty was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Philip B. Keith Jr., and her sister, Suzanne Elizabeth Keith.
A private family service will take place in New Hampshire with a celebration of her life to be held this summer at the family home in Boothbay, date to be announced. All are welcome to attend to celebrate Betty’s life.
Donations in Betty’s name may be made to an animal shelter of choice. The family would like to thank the staff of Safe Havens at St. Andrews Village for their loving care, friendship, and dedication, and to Beacon Hospice Care for their kindness and support.
Arrangements are entrusted to Hall Funeral and Cremation Services, 975 Wiscasset Road, Boothbay. Condolences can be shared with the family at www.hallfuneralhomes.com
