Sausage gravy
As you’re reading this, I’ll be just getting back from the Bahamas with my twinners. Back to work and back to reality.
I want to share a sausage gravy recipe that I do when the kids come over for Christmas breakfast or Richard and I do it for dinner some nights when you want breakfast for dinner.
Ingredients are: two pounds of Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage cooked and the fat drained off and set aside; five cans of evaporated milk; and pepper. Heat up your evaporated milk on high in your crockpot and add a tablespoon of pepper. Thicken with cornstarch. It takes a couple of hours. Make sure you have the right consistency. You want a nice thick white sauce. Then all you do is add your cooked breakfast sausage. Turn down on low to keep warm. I like to put ours over homemade biscuits; the kiddos prefer toast. Serve with some fresh fruits and you’ve got a delicious meal, for breakfast or dinner. This recipe is easy and can be prepped ahead of time as well.
I hope everyone had a safe, Happy New Year’s. Cheers to a brand new year ... nice fresh start for everyone.
When I get back, I’ll be doing a couple more recipes from Italy and maybe a dish or two from the Bahamas. Thanks for all the support in 2019.
