UPDATE: In a phone interview Friday, Wiscasset Police Chief Larry Hesseltine named those hurt when the SUV’s they were driving on Route 1 near Paige Avenue collided with one another about 6:40 p.m. Thursday.

They were Alaine Pinkham, 43, of Georgetown in a 2007 Honda SUV, Caitlyn Jennings, 27, of Oxford in a 2009 Ford SUV, and Michael St. Cyr, 32, of Warren in a 2013 Ford SUV, Hesseltine said. He said Jennings and St. Cyr were driving northbound; Pinkham, southbound. The accident’s cause was not yet known, but it appeared Jennings was seeking to turn left onto Paige Avenue when the vehicle she was driving collided with each of the other vehicles, Hesseltine said.

He said he had not heard from any of the citizens who helped after the accident.

Original post: After a three-vehicle crash Thursday night on Wiscasset’s Route 1, police Friday wanted to thank people who helped them and other responders. A Wiscasset Police Department Facebook post about 5 a.m. Friday said police responded to a head-on collision.

“Before they could arrive, several people who witnessed the crash stopped and began assisting. These citizens continued assisting officers with rendering aid, directing traffic and communicating what was needed to EMS and fire staff as they arrived. We did not get your names, but you were most definitely seen and appreciated.

“If you know anyone who stopped to help or you are one of them, send us a message because we would like to say thank you,” the post continued. “The three drivers were transported for relatively minor injuries, all things considered.”

Officer Jonathan Barnes told Wiscasset Newspaper early Friday, the drivers were the vehicles’ only occupants. He said two went to Midcoast Hospital in Brunswick, the other to LincolnHealth’s Miles campus in Damariscotta. 

The accident remained under investigation, Barnes said.
