Constance H.E. Schumann of Wiscasset passed away peacefully on Oct. 19, 2019 at age 78.

She was born in Toledo, Ohio on Jan. 18, 1941, the only child of James and Margaret Effler.

She attended St. Ursula Academy and later Marquette University, where she majored in journalism. She worked as an English teacher before marrying Wolfgang Schumann in 1964 and moving to California. After starting a family, she attended Mercy School of Nursing in Toledo and worked as an ICU nurse in California and then later southern Vermont after the family moved.

In 1993, she and her husband moved to Maine where she continued nursing as a home health RN.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening and the companionship of cats. She was also active in community and volunteer activities and well liked by her many friends and neighbors.

She is survived by her two children and two grandchildren.
