Mark your calendars, gather your family, friends, and neighbors and head to Damariscotta’s Lincoln Theater to experience the play that first established Arthur Miller as a playwright and received the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Play, “All My Sons,” Saturday, Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. Captured Live from The Old Vic in London and starring Academy Award-winner Sally Field (“Norma Rae,” “Sybil,” “Steel Magnolias,” “Brothers & Sisters”) and Bill Pullman (“Lost Highway,” “The Sinner,” “Independence Day”), this blistering drama, presented by National Theatre Live,  is not to be missed.

Miller’s “All My Sons” tells the story of Joe and Kate Keller. It is America, 1947. Despite hard choices and even harder knocks, Joe and Kate Keller are a success story. They have built a home, raised two sons and established a thriving business. Joe Keller and Herbert Deever were partners in a machine shop during the war, but they turned out defective airplane parts, causing the deaths of many men. As a result, Deever was sent to prison, but Keller escaped punishment and went on to make a lot of money. In a work of tremendous power, complete with love affair, bitterness, and guilt, their stories escalate toward a climax of electrifying intensity. Long buried truths are forced to the surface and the price of their American dream is laid bare.

In 1947, Arthur Miller’s “All My Sons” proved to be a great success on Broadway, earning him his very first Tony Award for Best Author and established his reputation as a playwright. Over the course of his lifetime, Miller went on the win two more Tony Awards for his plays “Death of a Salesman” and “The Crucible,” as well as a number of other awards including the John F. Kennedy Award for Lifetime Achievement and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

Jeremy Herrin (NT Live: This House) directs the cast of “All My Sons,” which also includes Jenna Coleman (“Victoria”), and Colin Morgan (“Merlin”) alongside Bessie Carter, Oliver Johnstone, Kayla Meikle and Sule Rimi. From National Theatre Live, this co-production comes to the big screen from The Old Vic, London’s independent theatre and world leader in creativity and entertainment, and from Headlong, a UK touring company with a big imagination. The Old Vic hopes to bring audiences “surprising, unpredictable, ground-breaking, rule-breaking, accessible, uplifting and unintimidating art.”
