LCDC encourages participation in Democratic caucuses
Democratic Caucuses are Sunday March 8, with a snow date of March 15. The caucuses are a chance to meet local legislative and other candidates, get involved in a municipal committee, and become a delegate to the Maine Democratic State Convention in May.
Caucus locations and times and a pre-registration form may be found online https://lincolncountydemocrats.com/caucus. Caucus pre-registration is not required but it will make check-in quicker and processing simpler when participants bring their own printed caucus record forms to Sunday’s caucus.
Participants should arrive at their caucus location when the doors open to have a chance to hear candidates and catch up with fellow Democrats. Daylight Saving Time begins on Sunday, March 8 so be sure to check that your clocks have sprung ahead so you won’t be an hour late.
“Caucuses are an ideal opportunity for Democrats, and unenrolled voters who’ve decided it’s time to become a Democrat, to start working together for change,” encourages Chris Johnson, Lincoln County Democratic Committee (LCDC) Chair. “You can be elected as a delegate to the State Convention and shape the future of the Democratic Party.”
Johnson reminds everyone, “Local candidates need your signatures on nomination papers and your $5 contributions to the Clean Election Fund to help them qualify for funding, so please bring your checkbook or $5 cash. Your Democratic municipal and county committees need you — this is not a time to stand on the sidelines.”
Clean Election contributions may also be made online. The LCDC makes that portal easy to find by typing https://lincolncountydemocrats.com/clean5 into any browser.
“This is where it starts. Be a part of the Lincoln County Democratic Committee’s work to connect with voters and elect good people,” adds Johnson, “#RiseAndOrganize.”
The next regular meeting of the LCDC is Thursday, March 26, at the Newcastle Fire Station, 86 River Road. This is a date change from the regularly scheduled third Thursday of the Month. All registered Democrats and unenrolled progressives are welcome to attend. Registered Democrats in Lincoln County are invited to join the LCDC as voting members to help in their work.
