Statewide COVID-19 death toll rises to nine
AUGUSTA — During a daily briefing from Augusta, the Maine CDC confirmed April 3 the passing of two additional individuals due to COVID-19, bringing the state’s death toll to nine.
Both individuals were Cumberland County residents, one was a male in his 70s and one was a female in her 80s. The former was a Veteran patient at the VA Maine Healthcare System’s Togus Campus, according to an April 2 news release.
The April 3 announced deaths follow a pair of deaths announced in Cumberland County earlier in the week, on April 1, where both individuals were women in their 80s and were hospitalized at their respective times of death.
Those deaths followed a pair of deaths in Cumberland County announced March 29 of a woman in her 80s and a man in his 60s, as well as the death in Cumberland County reported March 27 of a man in his 80’s.
A pair of deaths were announced Tuesday, March 31, by the Maine CDC of people with full-time residency in Kennebec and York counties. Both individuals in those cases were women in their 80’s and were in hospitals at their respective times of death.
