Edmund K. Brown Jr.
Edmund Karl Brown Jr., 86, died March 14, 2020 at home in Bristol, Maine.
He was born in Torrington, Connecticut in 1933, the son of Edmund Karl Brown Sr. and Pauline C. (Green) Brown. He grew up in Torrington, where he helped with the family orchard and cider business, and summered in Boothbay Harbor.
He was predeceased by his wife Diane (Dee) Brown and siblings, Cynthia Manner and Robert Brown.
He had served in the Coast Guard Auxiliary and was a master electrician by trade. Brownie worked at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution on Cape Cod from 1977 to 2001. He retired and moved to Thomaston, Maine and then to Bristol in 2006 to be closer to family.
Brownie was a member of the Bristol Congregational Church where he contributed cookies for coffee hour and enjoyed many servings of pie at the church suppers.
He had a great love of the water and particularly boating. He also enjoyed gardening and the vegetables he produced. Brownie could fix just about anything. He found pleasure in restoring old cars and rewiring and repairing rather than buying new.
He is survived by his three children, Debra Willoughby and her husband Richard of Westbrook, Barbara Brown of Bristol, and Ted Brown and his wife Lauren of Boothbay; five grandchildren, Nicole Levesque and her husband Ted, Brandi Marquis, Jaspyre Jackson, and Page and Kylie Brown; and two great-grandchildren, Rory and Paxton Levesque.
A funeral service will be held for EK at the Bristol Congregational Church once church services can safely resume.
