New bathhouse at Camp Knickerbocker progressing
The Boothbay Region YMCA received approval on Jan. 6 to build a new bathhouse facility at Camp Knickerbocker and construction began shortly thereafter. Since then, great strides have been made to reach completion of the structure. Over the last four months the construction team has been hard at work with the most recent update showing that the building is rapidly reaching completion.
Bill Burge of Knickerbocker Group said, “We made good progress on site this week. Interior walls were built for us to run wiring and plumbing in the ceiling, staying ahead of the carpenters who will be installing the metal material in a couple of weeks. The rubber roof will be installed next week, weather depending.”
Upon completion, this new facility will hold four changing stalls, four toilet stalls (two being handicapped accessible), two water fountains, benches, sinks and cubbies. This new facility will make for a better, more enjoyable summer camp experience. For years the Y has been working on planning and funding to upgrade Camp Knickerbocker facilities at 157 Barters Island Road.
We are all excited for warmer weather and all the excitement that Camp Knickerbocker will bring. If you are interested in signing up your kid for camp, visit boothbayregionymca.org
