AUGUSTA — The Maine CDC has updated its list, May 5, of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state of Maine.

Today, there are 1,226 confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases across the state, including 1,150 confirmed cases and 76 probable cases. 

Across the state, 741 people have recovered from COVID-19, while 61 people have passed. The number of people hospitalized, at some point during their illness, across the state stands at 187.

Looking at hospital COVID-19 data, there are currently 36 hospitalized, including 18 in critical care and 12 on a ventilator. There are 157 available critical care beds out of 319 total and 293 available ventilators of 318 total and 395 alternative ventilators.

The Maine CDC reports 19,546 negative cases, as of April 29. “Maine CDC will publish negative results once a week on Wednesdays. Because of the number of outside labs that are testing samples from Maine, it is not currently possible to post a complete count of negative tests on a daily basis,” the Maine CDC website states. 

By sex, 656 females have tested positive in the state and 570 males have tested positive.  

The below cases represents the number of full-time Maine residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Maine CDC. 

“This is likely an underrepresentation of the true number of cases in Maine since not all individuals are being tested,” the Maine CDC says. “For individuals not considered to be at high risk, medical providers are currently advised to diagnose COVID-19 based on symptoms.”
