Wiscasset eateries adjust to changing rules
Wiscasset’s eateries are gradually reopening or opening for the season as the state allows, according to interviews and the businesses’ Facebook pages.
Red’s Eats is gearing up to open May 30. Co-owner Debbie Gagnon noted multiple safety precautions are now in place and she even has 12 employees who are certified ServSafe. Another counter has been added to have customers further from the ordering window. There will also be plenty of signage encouraging social distancing, and plenty of hand sanitizer. And staff will sanitize the famous umbrellas before and after each use.
Sarah’s Café has been dealing with not only the pandemic but also daily construction right outside its door. Owner Sarah Heald said via email, the business was working on plans to open as soon as possible.
Treats has continued its preorder service on Fridays and Saturdays with more and more items each week. Owner Stacy Linehan has added a takeout window Thursday through Saturday with coffee, tea and baked goods. Linehan still recommends using the preorder option; it can now be done directly off the business’s website.
Little Village Bistro’s Facebook page states the business has started offering takeout on Fridays and Saturdays. Cubbyhole Sports Pub is open. According to its Facebook page, the full takeout menu remains and Margaritaville is open for outdoor seating.
Mammy’s Bakery continues with takeout service and Creamed Baking Company remains closed but orders can be shipped or you can find items at various farmers’ markets around the state, according to the two businesses’ Facebook pages.
Besides takeout, delivery and curbside, Water Street Kitchen and Bar has opened for dine-in service, taking advantage of its extensive space to ensure tables are more than six feet apart. The business also now offers dockside service for those traveling the Sheepscot River, according to the business’s Facebook page.
