Habitat ReStore reopening June 2
Habitat for Humanity’s Topsham ReStore is reopening to the public with new safety precautions in place. As an essential business, we know that there is a high demand for our ReStore merchandise that Habitat wants to continue to make available. In opening to the public we also know that we must strike a balance to ensure that we keep our customers, donors, volunteers, and staff safe.
To better serve our customers, the ReStore is offering these shopping opportunities: ReStore shopping by appointment is available now for individuals who are looking for merchandise that we know to have in stock. To let us know what you are looking for and to arrange a shopping appointment, contact our ReStore Manager Nick by email nick@habitat7rivers.org or by phone 504-9340.
As a next step, on Tuesday, June 2 the ReStore will be opening up to the public allowing in five shoppers at a time. The ReStore will be open to the general public from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Special hours are being made for our high risk customers to shop from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday through Friday. Staff will be at the door to monitor the safe flow of customers in and out of the store. Our front counter and register have been cleared and a Plexiglas shield installed. The ReStore staff will be wearing protective masks, eye gear, and gloves, and all surfaces will be appropriately cleaned and disinfected on an ongoing basis. As currently required by the State of Maine, Habitat encourages shoppers and donors to use their own protective face coverings when out in public settings where physical distancing measures are difficult to maintain. The ReStore is not currently selling upholstered furniture and other cloth items.
The ReStore has begun accepting donations at the back of the store by appointment. The ReStore truck has resumed scheduling the pick-up of donated items. This will be limited to donated items that have been placed outside of a home or business or from an open garage or barn. The ReStore is seeking new inventory and donations are needed. If you have recently cleaned out areas of your home or business, or had saved up donations for other events or sales that are not happening this spring and summer please call the ReStore to arrange a pick-up. We need your donations!
In March Habitat created the ReStore Online Marketplace to continue to serve the community. This will remain up and running. Customers can continue to shop online, pre-pay for their items, and schedule a curbside pick-up time. No face to face interactions are required. To access the ReStore Online Marketplace please follow our Facebook page: Habitat ReStore/7 Rivers Maine.
The ReStore is located at 126 Main Street in Topsham. To reach the ReStore by phone please call 207-504-9340. All ReStore proceeds advance Habitat’s mission and support our ability to build one to two new homes and weatherize and repair 60 existing homes each year.
