Ann E. Claffey
Ann Elizabeth Riggs Claffey, 79, of Pittston, Maine passed away on June 16, 2020.
Ann was born Dec. 24, 1940, the only child of Horace and Adele Riggs. She was raised in Needham, Massachusetts and in early adulthood would call Newburyport and Marshfield home.
In 1995 she and her husband Joe purchased the Country Cabin General Store in Wiscasset, Maine, where she enjoyed managing operations with her sons by her side.
For many years Ann worked as a library assistant at the Ventress Memorial Library in Marshfield where she met some of her favorite people. She loved talking about the latest in world affairs with her patrons and loved being at the front desk to welcome all. Ann was happiest when her nose was in a book or when her feet were in her gardens. Ann loved flowers; she collected orchids and loved her perennial garden and roses. She always loved a plié and boasted about the ballet moves she could still perform in her later years. She loved the ocean; her and Joseph enjoyed their cottage in Jonesport for many summers.
Ann was predeceased by her husband Joseph Claffey and daughter Megan Claffey.
Ann is survived by her sons Bart Killen of Pittston, Garrett Killen and his wife Brenda of Sidney, Maine, and grandson Andrew Killen of Waterville, Maine.
