Reta L. LeMar
Reta L. Russell LeMar, of Old Orchard Beach, went home to be with her precious Lord and Savior on Sunday, Aug. 2, 2020 surrounded by her loving family after a brave battle with breast cancer.
Reta was born March 1, 1938 at Gardiner General Hospital. One of six children born to late Bernard & Esther Bailey of Wiscasset. She was raised in Dresden and graduated from Bridge Academy in 1956.
After graduation, she worked at Hartford Royal Typewriter Co. in Connecticut in the filing department. In the later years she went back to work as a CNA at Country Manor Nursing Home and provided private duty care in residential homes until she retired in 1989.
In July 1956 she married Robert Russell Sr., and made their homes in Whitefield and Dresden where they raised their six children for whom they are very proud of.
Reta was a member of the Four-Square Church in Gardiner for many years. She enjoyed quiet walks, listening to Christian and country music, reading and crocheting. Most of all she loved her large family with large holiday family gatherings and camping trips.
Reta is predeceased by her two husbands, Robert Russell, Sr. of 43 years and Robert LeMar of 11 years, both of Dresden. A daughter, Regina Jewett of Whitefield, a great grandson, Rafael Panchana of Florida; sisters, Deanna Mansir of Wiscasset, Sylvia Jones of Gardiner; a brother, Erlon Bailey Sr., of Wiscasset.
Reta is survived by her two sons, Robert (Robbie) Russell Jr., of Dresden; Randale (Randy) and wife Rebecca Russell of Westport Island; 3 daughters, Mrs. Roger (Rhonda) Clark of Windsor; Mrs. John (Raelene) Fitzpatrick of Old Orchard Beach; Mrs. Mark (Ramona) Vailliancourt (Missionaries) in Guatemala; 26 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren; sisters, Mavis Hinckley of Gardiner, Bernadine James of Florida; sister in laws; Louise Dancer of Whitefield, Gloria Bailey of Edgecomb; brother in laws; Phillip Russell of Whitefield, Ronald Bodge of Wiscasset, and many nieces and nephews who loved and adore her.
At Reta’s request there will not be visiting hours. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery in Dresden with Rev. Steve Wallace officiating.
