Westport Island does broadband survey, plans North End Road repair
Via UberConference Tuesday night, Westport Island selectmen approved a bid from Scott Griffin for the North End Road contract. The town has approved use of up to $37,000 for the project. The cost will be determined once the contractor starts the project and determines the ledge conditions. The bid is for $34,850 with other potential daily costs.
The Wright House fuel tank will need to be replaced and First Selectman George Richardson said to do some more checking into prices. The other members agreed.
Jeff Tarbox of the broadband committee reported it has sent out a survey for all residents. It will also be available electronically. The committee encourages all residents to fill it out by Oct. 15. Tarbox explained, if the survey shows there is community support, that can increase the likelihood of grants toward an extension of broadband across the island.
Selectmen meet next at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14 via UberConference call.
