Lisbon Community School Principal Robert Kahler next superintendent
The Alternative Organizational Structure (AOS) 98 school board selected Lisbon Community School Principal Robert Kahler as its next superintendent May 11. The board began interviews for outgoing Superintendent Keith Laser’s successor the week of April 19.
Kahler has worked at LCS since 2014 and previous experience includes four years as principal at Livermore Elementary School, two years at Tripp Middle School and six years as assistant principal and co-curricular director at Lisbon Elementary School.
“I'm still here, so that's a good sign,” Kahler said as AOS 98 board members returned from an executive session. “And you came back, too, so that's a good sign.”
"What should we do now? Anybody have any suggestions?” laughed Chair John Bertolet. “I tell you what, let's hire a superintendent.”
Kahler was awarded a two-year contract from July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2023 with a salary of $116,000 through 2022. Kahler's salary for 2023 will be up for negotiation.
“I just want to say I'm thrilled … to be part of AOS 98 and I can't wait to actually get to see you not through a computer screen and get to know you in your communities … I can't thank you enough and I look forward to getting up to speed and getting to work.”
Bertolet told Kahler that within the next six weeks he should expect all the schools to be reaching out to help introduce him to their communities.
