Susan Partridge (nee Figgins) Evans died May 24, 2021 at Brooksby Village in Peabody, Massachusetts.

Sue was born in Hartford, Connecticut in 1943 to the late Weston Figgins and the late Rebecca Partridge. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Mr. John Evans, of Peabody, Massachusetts; son Robert Evans and his wife, Jacqueline, of Medfield, Massachusetts; son David Evans and wife, Natalie, of Ashburn, Virginia; three grandchildren, Emily, Erin, and Sam; as well as her sister, Nancy Henderek, and brother-in-law, Michael Henderek, of Houston, Texas.

Sue was the granddaughter of the late Robert Partridge and the late Cora Partridge, who summered at Ocean Point for many decades. Ocean Point held a special place in Sue’s heart, and she had many fond memories of her time spent at the Partridge cottage, The Roost. She was an active member of the community, serving on the board and activities committee of the Ocean Point Colony Trust.

Sue met the love of her life, John Evans, at Walter Johnson High School in Bethesda, Maryland. Their romance continued as John attended the University of Maryland and Sue attended Western College for Women in Oxford, Ohio. They were married in Bethesda in 1962. As a couple, they were dedicated partners who quite literally danced through life together, finding joy in their shared love of everything from foxtrot, waltz, and swing to square dancing and line dancing.

Throughout her married life, Sue was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an upbeat, people person whose warmth and caring nature enriched every relationship. Her family will always treasure the endless encouragement and genuine interest she showed in all parts of their lives. Before she had children, Sue worked at a women’s boutique in Bethesda. While her children were young, she stayed at home to nurture and guide them. Sue strongly believed in service to her community, and she was involved in many volunteer activities. She was a member of the religious education committee at the local Unitarian church while her two sons were growing up, and she was a member of the local Kiwanis Club. She was a trained Scouter, serving as a Den Mother and as a member of the Pack Committee, Troop Committee, and local Scout district Training Committee. Sue enjoyed supporting young people. For 20 years, she worked as an Instructional Assistant at Gaithersburg High School in Maryland, before she and her husband moved to Massachusetts in 2005.

Services will be private.
