Half-price sale on cookbooks starts June 10
Cookbooks are on sale at half price as of Thursday morning, June 10, at Skidompha Secondhand Book Shop in downtown Damariscotta.
Rosie Bensen, co-manager of the shop, said, “Our shop has many generous donors, and it seems that a lot of them like to cook. They’ve given us a huge variety of cookbooks. We have hundreds of cookbooks, all on sale.”
Some of the books will be on special display on the island in the middle room of the shop, with others on the regular shelves in the adjoining room.
The book shop, located at 17 Backstreet Landing, is open year-round Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and now, for the summer, also open Sunday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
It’s a major fundraiser for Skidompha Public Library. All staff members are volunteers, all items are donated, and all proceeds support the library’s collections and programs. In addition to hardcover and paperback books in many genres for adults and children, it offers movies on videotape and DVD, puzzles, music CDs, and records.
