Coastal Rivers to host online volunteer fair
For those who want to be involved with a community-focused organization but don’t know where to start, or those who are looking for meaningful volunteer conservation work, Coastal Rivers is hosting an online volunteer fair from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 17.
Coastal Rivers relies on volunteers for all aspects of its operations, including many of its citizen science projects, education programs, and conservation and stewardship activities. These volunteers have a direct impact on the environment and the community.
Data collected through the water quality monitoring program not only keeps swimmers safe, but has been used at the legislative level to shape policy. Trail workers help create and maintain a network of trails in the region that are enjoyed by thousands of people every year. Volunteers in the front office answer the phone, greet visitors, respond to questions, and keep things running smoothly.
The event will start with a slideshow presentation, followed by a chance to talk to staff and ask questions. This will be an opportunity for potential new volunteers to learn about Coastal Rivers volunteer needs and how to get involved.
This program is free of charge. To join using Zoom, participants must register online at coastalrivers.org/events. The program will be recorded and shared with all those who register, regardless of whether they are able to attend.
Those interested in volunteering may also visit the website or contact Coastal Rivers for a volunteer application form.
