Skidompha Book Shop now accepting donations
Skidompha Secondhand Book Shop in downtown Damariscotta now accepts donations every Monday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., of books, CDs, vinyl records, DVDs, music, and puzzles.
Monday through Saturday, volunteers continue to accept donations between 8 and 10 a.m. at the side door, as they have done since the shop re-opened during the pandemic. After 10 on Mondays, donors are asked to see a volunteer at the front desk inside the main entrance about leaving their items.
Rosie Bensen, co-manager of the shop, explained, “Donation Mondays will make it more convenient for donors who can’t get to the shop early. We know that some of our generous donors save books for us, but might not be able to get to the shop before 10.”
The limit remains four boxes or bags per person per day.
Located at 17 Backstreet Landing, the shop is open year-round Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and now, for the summer, Sunday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The book shop is a major fundraiser for Skidompha Public Library. All books and other items are donated. All staff members are volunteers, and proceeds support the library’s programs and collections.
