Robert Kreahling Jr.
In the evening of July 19, 2021, Robert P. “Skip” Kreahling Jr. passed away at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick, with his family by his side.
He was born on January 31, 1941 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania to Robert P. Kreahling and Nelda Berkoben Kreahling.
Skip obtained a bachelor’s, master’s and Ph.D. from Penn State. He was married 58 years to his wife Sue. They lived in Stamford, Connecticut, Pensacola, Florida, Westfield, New Jersey, Pennington, New Jerset, and State College, Pennsylvania before retiring to Boothbay Harbor in 2003.
He worked at American Cyanamid Co. as scientist, staying with them throughout the years before retiring in 1998.
Skip was an avid golfer. He owned and operated “A Touch of Wood” where he specialized in custom woodworking pieces. He loved to travel and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather to his family.
He was a member of the Boothbay Harbor Rotary Club for 16 years, serving as president and receiving a Paul Harris Fellow Award. He was also a member of the Advanced Science Foundation, and president of Rebuilding Together, and a member of the Library Board, and served as bookkeeper for the library for many years.
Skip is survived by his wife Sue of Boothbay Harbor; daughters Gretchen McKay and husband John of Abbottstown, Pennsylvania and Kathleen Miller and husband Marc of Blackwater, Missouri; grandchildren Sarah Miller and Kayla Miller of Blackwater, Missouri; sister Marion “Susie” Himes and husband Jack of Carlisle, Pennsylvania; and two nephews Jay and Peter and their families.
A memorial service will be held at a later date and time to be determined in the fall.
