For those who like unusual antiques and vintage salvage, a new retail store in Edgecomb called Sawyer’s Way has opened its doors to the public as of Saturday, May 25, Memorial Day weekend.
Located in the former Edgecomb Army/Navy Store building on Route 27 north of the Boothbay town line, the store also features distressed and repurposed cottage furniture, designed and produced by owner Jeff Dowdy.
“Sawyer’s Way is not only a retail store, but also a resource for those seeking assistance in design, custom woodworking and decorative painting projects,” said Dowdy, who has over three decades of experience in the building trades.
The name, Sawyer’s Way, comes from an old saying that refers to his great grandfather Captain William Sawyer, who salvaged ships in Boothbay Harbor during the late 1800s.
Dowdy’s wife, Jen, is the other half of the proprietor team. Stop by sawyersway.blogspot.com for additional product information.
