Edgecomb crash kills Jefferson teen
A Jefferson girl was killed Sunday night, Oct. 10, when the car she was driving left River Road in Edgecomb and struck a utility pole and a tree, according to a Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office press release Monday morning.
At 10:19 p.m. Sunday, Lincoln County Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a crash. Deputies responded and found a car off the road. The initial investigation indicates the 1998 VW Beetle was northbound when it crossed the southbound lane and left the roadway. The car then struck the utility pole and tree.
Paris R. Pierpont, 17, died at the scene from her injuries. Pierpont was the car’s lone occupant.
The car’s airbags deployed, however, Pierpont was not wearing a seatbelt.
