Animal blessing in Wiscasset Oct. 17
In honor of St. Francis, patron saint of animals, a Blessing of the Animals will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 17 on the Wiscasset common. The Blessing is sponsored by First Congregational Church and St. Philip’s Episcopal Church.
Quoting from the invitation in the newsletter of First Congregational Church, “Whether furry, feathered, scaly, or other-wise clad, all of God’s critters are welcome! If your animal companions cannot be with us, feel free to bring a picture. Water and treats will be provided for our honored guests!”
According to Rev. Josh Fitterling of First Congo, “Those remembering beloved pets who have died will have a chance to light a candle in their memory and share stories of their pets.”
Music will be provided by Terry Heller on the keyboard.
Cash donations will be accepted for Rescue Charlie's Friend Dog Rescue. Pet supplies can be donated and will be shared with Help Yourself Shelf at St. Philip's.
