Chamber announces Boothbay Lights updates
Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce has announced that the Boothbay Lights events, Nov. 19 through Jan. 1, will be the same “as they were last year,” and it is planning big for next year.
Although it was suggested in the early planning, there will be no Bed Races or a Pajama Parade during the Early Bird Sale on Saturday, Nov. 20. There will be an Early Bird Sale and several of the businesses will offer day-long bargains. The Boothbay Register will have a section on the sale in the Nov. 18 issue and online.
Boothbay Lights will open Nov. 20 with Gardens Aglow at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens and Boothbay Winter Festival on the Boothbay Common. Both events will run most days/nights until Jan. 1.
On Nov. 20, Boothbay Region Garden Club has organized a Winter Market to replace its annual Festival of Trees. The Winter Market will be held on the Boothbay Common from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Holiday gifts, decorations, baked goods, frozen meals to go and more will be sold.
Local Business Saturday will be celebrated all day on Nov. 27, followed by a Lighted Fire Truck Parade at 4 p.m., with details to be announced.
December events are aplenty. Dec. 4 will feature the Lighted Boat Parade at 6:45 p.m. (participants should sign up at the Chamber, 633-2353), Blessing of the Fleet and fireworks at 7:30 p.m.; also on that day, Brown’s Wharf’s parking lot will be where kids and adults can pick up their ornaments for Eastside Waterfront Park’s Family Christmas Ornament decorating contest between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Drop off date and judging of the ornaments will be held Dec. 18.
Boothbay Railway Village Museum will be firing up its trains for the three weekends of the North Pole Express (Dec. 4, 5, 11, 12, 18 and 19). Details to be announced.
Santa Claus will make an appearance, but, like last year, he will be able to be seen live-streamed from Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library on Saturday, Dec. 11, where he will conduct a Story Time. Details to be announced.
Men’s Night shopping is Wednesday, Dec. 15.
The Opera House at Boothbay Harbor will hold its Gingerbread Spectacular Dec. 16-19.
BHRCC will have extended office hours during Gardens Aglow, with hot chocolate, treats and restrooms available. The hours will be announced. Public restrooms will also be available near the Boothbay Common and Boothbay Harbor’s Whale Park.
These events are subject to change, said the Chamber via email, and due to COVID-19, updates may be made and people should call the Chamber office, 633-2353, or check its Facebook site for any important information.
