Past selectman to be lone selectman’s candidate on Alna ballot
By the Friday, Nov. 5 deadline for nominations for Alna first selectman, former selectman Ed Pentaleri and no one else had filed papers, Town Clerk Lisa Arsenault said. The election is Dec. 14.
The term Pentaleri seeks runs out next March. It is the unexpired term of Melissa Spinney, who resigned last spring.
In June 2018, voters elected Pentaleri to Spinney’s unexpired, second selectman’s seat. Spinney was elected first selectman in March 2018 and re-elected in March 2020.
Pentaleri told Wiscasset Newspaper in a phone interview Friday, he was running at the urging of people “from all over the community.” He said his experience on both sides of the meeting room table, even temper, and commitment to consistently engaging the community in a constructive, respectful way can help lower the temperature of meetings.
He has no agenda except to serve the community, with low drama and with knowledge and confidence, he said.
