Wake up for sales in Wiscasset Saturday
Nov. 13 is lucky this Saturday, for those looking for deals. And at this year’s Wiscasset Early Bird, plenty of the deals await shoppers who get a little more sleep before they shop.
Ames True Value Supply will open early as usual with its annual, Early Bird 10% discount on everything not on sale. The discount runs from 6 to 9 a.m. “We’re just trying to keep some of the traditions going,” co-owner Wayne Averill said about why the Bath Road store is taking part. He said in a year staying supplied has been a challenge for everyone, the store has worked hard at it and has a good stock going into the holiday season. “We’ve secured a lot of product, and Christmas lights are going to be huge,” Averill said.
Also on Bath Road, Big Al’s Fireworks Outlet will offer 25% off from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and Big Al’s Super Values, recently announced for closure at year’s end, will offer 33% off from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and every day for the rest of the year, owner Al Cohen said.
“I’m hoping it’s good,” Cohen said of Early Bird. “I’d like everyone to do some business.”
Downtown, BIRCH, In The Clover, and rock paper scissors will each have a sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Moulinette, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Treats, from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.; and Sarah’s Cafe. For details, please contact the businesses or see their ads in this week’s print edition and at wiscassetnewspaper.com
Also supporting Wiscasset Early Bird are J. Edward Knight Insurance, Marsha DeCosta from Tim Dunham Realty and Wiscasset Area Chamber of Commerce. For WACC, taking part in Early Bird is another way to support local businesses and shoppers, and have some visibility, Executive Manager Pat Cloutier said Monday. Look for the blue tent on Main Street.
Cloutier said the Chamber will have treats and hot drinks, and will be selling its cookbook, “Pleasures From the Earth and Sea.”
