Gary N. Soler
Gary N. Soler, 76, of Salem, Connecticut passed away suddenly on Nov. 3, 2021.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Cindy Soler and only daughter, Wendy Soler Charyak, and three grandchildren, Jason, Jenna and Justin Charyak.
Gary was born on March 29, 1945, in New York, New York but raised in East Boothbay, Maine from the age of 2. Gary attended area public schools and graduated from Boothbay Region High School in 1963. Gary was a respected student athlete in high school. He played on the varsity football team. Gary went on to complete his bachelor of science degree in animal sciences at University of Maine in 1967. Gary worked as an associate scientist in the toxicology department at Pfizer Pharmaceutical in Groton, Connecticut for 23 years before retiring. After retirement, Gary enjoyed hiking and biking the beautiful trails and state parks in Southeastern Connecticut. Gary and Cindy spent their winters with family and friends in Florida for more than a decade.
Gary proudly served his county in the United States Army for three years. He was a Vietnam War veteran.
He met the love of his life, Cindy Lee Marr. They were married Dec. 29, 1967. Their only daughter, Wendy was born the following year.
Gary and Cindy moved to Salem, Connecticut in 1976. They have resided in Salem for the past 45 years. Gary was an active member of the Salem Seniors.
Gary will be remembered fondly by his friends and family including his twin brother, Raymond Soler, and his elder brother, Donald Soler, and their respective families.
