Dear Editor:

I have been a resident of Wiscasset for 17 years. I have always found it convenient that the town garage has a sand and salt mixture available for the residents to use during the harsh months of winter. I, much like many others, would take advantage of this in order to keep my own family, including my in-laws, safe.

Over the past couple of years, the supply of sand has gradually become less and less available to us. This has left me questioning why. Whether the reason be a lack of material or cost of materials, many Wiscasset residents were dependent on this supply of sand and salt. I know this is not due to a lack of sand, seeing as it is available at other businesses. If cost is the problem, then charge for it.

Our tax-paying residents deserve to have this supply available to them still.
