Maine has an implied warranty law
Dear Editor:
There’s some information that Boothbay school officials need to know before they start spending money on the generator that recently died. Maine has a four-year implied warranty law on all products, except cars, new or used, that are sold in the state of Maine.
Thus, if a product fails within that four-year period, both the retail seller and the manufacturer are obligated, under this law, to either fix it or replace it. The school district shouldn’t be spending any money on fixing this generator which is just over a year old.
I have sent this information on to school superintendent Robert Kahler, but it’s important that your readers also familiarize themselves with this very useful and practical law. More information is available on the Maine Attorney General’s website.
