Deck House school begins fundraising campaign
The Deck House School is excited to announce its “Campaign for a Secure Future.” The goal of this campaign is to raise $300,000 in the next year to fund several projects here on campus and to start a scholarship fund in the name of our founder Edward Tuck Hall.
The Deck House School has been a part of the Midcoast community since 1979. We are a small independent boarding school for high school boys who have struggled in larger, more traditional, settings. Located in Edgecomb overlooking the Sheepscot River, The Deck House School is home for up to 12 boys from all over the United States and abroad.
Our Head of School, Dr. Melinda Browne, has been with the school for 13 years and is a resident of Boothbay. With full and part time staff drawn from the surrounding towns, a community service program, and a co-curricular program that pairs individual students with adult mentors, The Deck House School is deeply tied to the Midcoast region.
The need for The Deck House School has never been more pressing. With the increased pressures of academic achievement and the increased use of technology in instruction, recreation, and socialization, there is a real need for our smaller and more personal educational alternative.
The Deck House School provides a community in which interactions are face-to face, every member contributes to the daily responsibilities of the school, and relationships trump bureaucracy.
If you would like to learn more about the school or make a contribution, please call Tom Blackford, former Headmaster and now Director of Development, at 207-882-6553. The Deck House School is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit and all contributions are tax-deductible.
