Edgecomb art teacher retiring at school year’s end
An Edgecomb art teacher is leaving the classroom. Robin MacCready is retiring at the school year’s end after teaching in education since 1993. Alternative Organizational Structure 98 Superintendent Robert Kahler announced MacCready’s retirement during the May 9 Edgecomb School Committee meeting.
The committee also approved three continuing teachers’ contracts. Two first-year teachers received a continuing contract for next year. Kindergarten teacher Rachael Kellogg and grade 5-6 teacher Nicole Ellis received approval for second year probationary contracts. Special education teacher Amanda Cotier finished her second year and is no longer on probation status. The committee approved her to a continuing teaching contract. Dr. Christina Boursaw finished her first year as Edgecomb Eddy principal. The committee approved a second year contract with a 4% raise and stipend for advanced degrees. Her combined compensation for year two is $93,600.
In other action, Kahler updated the committee about a recent letter sent to parents. He reported the letter reminded parents “masking is still optional,” but home checks are important prior to sending students to school. “If your child isn’t feeling well, stay home,” Kahler said.
The committee approved a new hire. Michelle Davis joins the school staff as a custodian.
The committee meets next at 5 p.m. Monday, June 6.
