Dear Editor:

Just went to my first party hosted for the Wiscasset Democrats. There was a lot of electricity in the room between candidates, organizers, and supporters. When Republican candidates and office holders were talked about I was impressed by the respect shown for them. When negative campaign ads were brought up, one counter move proposed was to just get the word out about the good works of the democrats now in office. 

Myself, I like to keep in mind that people, especially those with policy power, lie like the devil when they are scared of losing control. We forget how to share and listen when we're scared and scared can be bent to rage.

So let's be cool. Democrats, Independents, Libertarians, Greens, Republicans, and all political stripes: love and respect one another. Work at it. Don't be afraid.
